Tiffins – Good and Bad

It was not too long since I posted about the Tiffins services in Melbourne. Well, I think I was too excited that day!!

Using Tiffins website I ordered on previous night for the food to be delivered next day for me and my hubby dear to our respective offices. I had placed it as 2 separate orders. We even got the confirmation email with the order numbers. When I checked for the delivery time under the rest of the CBD area (god knows on what basis they have classified the CBD area) it was stated that we can expect the order between 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM.
With full excitement, I informed my colleague about the same and he being the best PRO had informed the entire office. 2 of my colleagues with whom I always have lunch wanted to wait for me until I get.
It was 12:00 PM and both of us (at our respective offices) were eagerly waiting for the Tiffins to arrive. Every 15 minutes we called up each other to check or to make fun of non-arrival of Tiffins. My colleagues at office were more eager to see than I was to eat it. Every time they uttered the word ‘Tiffins’ I almost heard it like they were calling me. I didn’t want to call the 1300 services of Tiffins until it was 1:15 PM. I kept convincing my colleagues that I am still expecting it and it would arrive any time. We even started peeping out of the window to spot any tri-cyclewallas.

It was past 1:15 and I decided to give a ring. There is this funny operator who sits at Tiffins office and does not know how to handle customers. She said she will check and give a call back after 2 minutes. It was past 10 minutes and she did not return the call. I had to call her back and she says again that she will give me a call back after 2 minutes. Ok… I am still holding my patience which I know will blast any sooner.
She calls me back and takes down the order # and all the information which was provided to her earlier only to say THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE WEBSITE. HENCE, THEY WILL NOT DELIVER THE FOOD TO EITHER OF THEM. I am sorry to say but I lost it. At 1:30 when you are damn hungry and this insane operator easily says that they can’t deliver, you can’t expect a saintly reply from me. I argued with her to see if she can do something but didn’t look like she was equipped with any of the skills she needs to possess. I asked her to put me on to her senior. Her manager -Mr. M calls me after 2 minutes to repeat the same story. The catch point was that he mentioned ONE OF THE REASONS THAT HE COULD GIVE WAS THE WEBSITE PROBLEM. Does this mean that they could give plenty of other reasons for not delivering the order? Gross!!
He tried to convince me and apologize. But I was not in a situation to accept apologies to satisfy my hunger. I clearly mentioned that I will not accept any apology. So he offered a deal – as a goodwill gesture (which they had already lost) he would want to send us food for free the next day. Hmmm… for the time that I had wasted waiting for the food and convincing my colleagues, for that moment when I got profoundly embarrassed, for spending my energy to call up these guys and argue for what was not my problem and above all to keep my hubby on top of all this.. Was this deal worth?? Well I took up the offer and made doubly sure that we are getting on the date agreed and with in a decent time frame.
With all this, I felt so guilty for making my colleagues wait. One of them was nearly fainting. Hence, I had to buy them cookies with my sandwich. By the time we sat in the kitchen to eat it was 2:15.
The best part hasn’t come yet. I thought dealing with my colleagues was heights but my hubby had even left the money (in a cover with his name written) for the order at the reception even before he knew if his order will ever materialize. Double heights!!! .

I got the goodwill gesture order well in time and I am not too happy to say that the food wasn’t great. But it was money’s worth. Rice wasn’t baked properly and dhal lacked salt deeply. My friend ordered it yesterday and he rated 7 on 10.

I have mentioned all the aspects that I faced out of it and it is up to you to decide the good part of Tiffins.
Not to mention that its existence itself is a plus to all.

Looks are definitely deceptive. Please be aware!!!
